Latest updates in the real-estate sector
brought about several positive trends in real-
estate activities which eventually benefited
final users too. The fluctuating state of
the sector between growth and maturity
finally settled on bringing increasing intra-
investments amongst the GCC member-
states where real-estate investments
have drastically increased during the last
decade. The successful trends achieved so
far paved the way to more break through
accomplishments related to multi commercial
and investment activities within viable
economic sectors of the region. Moreover,
the real-estate boom strongly pushed
forward towards the development of several
rules and regulations believed to attract
additional individual and organizational
investments. The Ownership Act regulating
real-estate ownership of GCC nationals led
the latest statutory amendments and drove
the hunt for local investment opportunities
rather than external ones, which required
specialized expertise not to mention the
risk and fluctuations associated therewith.
Al-Mazaya Report briefed the positive
ramifications on intra-GCC capitals due to
the real-estate boom as the Exchange Data
revealed a 25% increase on real-estate
ownershipofGCCnationalsat theendof 2013.

Similarly, a communique issued by the SG of
the GCC shows real-estate ownership of the
GCC state-member nationals has drastically
increased up 493% during the last decade.
The accumulated purchase transactions
amount to 129.7 thousand transactions
concluded at the end of 2013 compared to
110.4 thousand transactions concluded at
the end of 2012. Kuwaiti nationals top the
list amongst GCC national owners of real-
estate products followed by Saudi nationals
then Qataris. The permission granted to GCC
state-member nationals to own real-estates
therein and within GCC states is one of the
Ten Tracks listed within the Agreement of the
GCC Common Market 2001 currently being
enforced and provoking ownership process.
